For the past week, I’ve been what the kids call ‘chillin’ at home due to a lack of school. I’m not going to lie, sometimes I like having nothing to do, and for those times I beleive we all need a well picked soundtrack. So here for your enjoyment, is a compilation of songs that you should listen to when you’re just sitting around, chillin’.
1. At the Bottom of Everything- Bright Eyes
(Don’t be thrown off by the beginning shaky monologue about a plane crash, this song is a toe-tapper.)
2. Tire Swing- Kimya Dawson
3. Delicate- Damien Rice
4. Thick as Theives- Dashboard Confessional
5. My Moon My Man- Feist
(Feist, who you might know from the iPod commercial, is awesome. That’s all I have to say.)
6. Seed- The Academy Is...
(I just really like everything about this song, and this band.)
7. Message In a Bottle- The Police
(My boyfriend always sings this song, and the chorus is pretty catchy.)
8. Scar Tissue- Red Hot Chili Peppers
(You can’t go wrong with the Chili Peppers.)
9. Sunday Morning- Maroon 5
10. Young Folks- Peter Bjorn and John
(Have a fun time trying to not whistle this for a week.)
11. Can’t Buy Me Love- The Beatles
(Everyone needs at little bit of Beatle-mania in their lives.)
12. Mrs. Robinson- Simon & Garfunkel
13. Under Pressure- Queen and David Bowie
14. Heart of Glass- Blondie
15. On the Table- A.C. Newman
16. A Movie Script Ending- Death Cab for Cutie
(Pretty much my favourite band, so they had to be here somewhere.)
17. Songbird- Oasis
(I just discovered this song yesterday, and I think it’s really nice.)
"Would it kill you to breathe easy? Only seventeen miles lay between you and me. I could make it if I had to".- Thick as Theives by Dashboard Confessional
